city, large or small, now seems to have an open-top bus tour.
It
can only be a matter of time before Yeovil acquires one too

Moneygall,
Co Offaly suddenly rocketed into the world media spotlight when Barack
Obama stopped in the town during a presidential visit to Ireland in May
2011 (a distant ancestor hailed from these parts in the mid 19th
century). Understandably, the locals have sought to make the
most
of this new-found fame and there is Obama memorabilia along with Stars
and
Stripes flags everywhere. The name given to this seemingly
new
cafe can't have taken too much deliberation ... needless to say, the
prices include a 'Commander in Chief' premium!

The
'Twelfth' (of July) sees Orange Order parades across the Province.
This year one of the two 'flagship' events was held in
Comber, Co
Down, attracting over 100 lodges from around the locality
Largely,
the Twelfth is now a good-natured family affair enjoyed by all sections
of the community

Bridge
over the River ... Stour. Until late 2010 this was the
'missing
link' that prevented walkers and cyclists from traversing the former
railway trackbed all the way from Sturminster Newton to Stourpaine as
the original railway bridge had been demolished. This modern
footbridge now re-instates the link

Previously
in the town centre, this ornate lamp standard has now been moved to the
Railway Gardens. Vivat Eovidad!
Much
of the River Stour seems to be covered with thick, green algae but
these swans appear not to mind
