Paul
Peters is, amongst many other things, a British local radio presenter
based near Yeovil in Somerset. During a career spanning over 50
years, he has hosted programmes on a wide variety of stations across
the United Kingdom and further afield. With his late partner,
Geoff Kemp, Paul created the formats for his well known regular
programmes: The Fabulous Fifties, The Swinging Sixties and Late Night
in the Attic.
Away from the microphone, Paul has enjoyed a very varied career path
and was, for some years, a manager with the
PDSA, based in
London. He has also run hotels and a department store, but is now
semi-retired and living in Somerset. His more recent ventures
incude the establishment of a new charity,
The Geranium Trust, the
purposes of which are to provide support for the lonely and bereaved in
the Yeovil and South Somerset area.
During the summer of 2017, Paul was approached by Terry Bennett, a
fellow presenter on Sherborne's local radio station,
Abbey 104.
He was invited to take part in 'Folk Tales', a local equivalent of the
long-running BBC radio programme Desert Island Discs. Paul
readily agreed and the first programme was recorded during July of that
year. But ... one hour simply wasn't enough (!) and 3 subsequent
programmes followed over the next few months, culminating in the final
episode on Christmas Eve 2017.
Here are the recordings:
Part 1 - 23 July
2017
Part 2 - 13 August
2017
Part 3 - 15 October

Part 4 - 24

Look out for Part 5 ... maybe!
