INFORMATION

The Torbay Vintage Bus Running Day is currently taking a break but we hope to see it return before too long

We hope that this website gives you a flavour of what the Torbay Vintage Bus Running Day is about.  Please check back  for periodic updates.

The event has been organised with the assistance of Torbay Council and Stagecoach by a group of bus enthusiasts and preservationists who believe that retired buses should not be consigned to museums but should do what they were designed to do and give people an opportunity to see them out and about and to have the chance to ride on them once again.

The organising team is also behind the successful Weymouth Vintage Bus Running Day which has become a firm fixture in the calendar since it began in 2007 and takes place around mid-June each year.

Admission to the rally site and travel on the buses is free, however please note that these services are not competing with those of the local bus companies and will only stop at certain locations - see the programme for full details.  Please do not ask drivers and conductors to stop elsewhere.

Programmes giving details of the buses expected to attend and timetables for the free services are available on the day for a small charge.  The sale of programmes is about the only way we have of recouping the costs of staging the event, so if you would like to see it continue in future years, please support us by purchasing a programme.  We have kept the cost as low as we can but, as we hope you will appreciate, essential charges such as event insurance have a tendency to increase each year.

For rally entrants who wish to make a weekend of it, Torbay Council kindly agree to make free overnight parking available for participating buses and coaches on the Saturday and Sunday nights at Lymington Road Coach Station.  The site is fully monitored and covered by CCTV and you will need to display a permit in your vehicle.  Please note, however, that failure to display a permit will render you liable to pay the standard overnight charge.  Overnight parking permits are available from the rally organisers - if you require one please request it when submitting your vehicle entry or email the organisers via the Contact page on this website.

Whilst on the rally site, please take care and look out for moving vehicles.  There will be marshalls on site to help and we do therefore ask that you respect any instructions and requests they give as the safety of our visitors is paramount.

The buses attending are mostly privately owned and many have been restored at great cost.  Please do not board vehicles without permission and when out riding on them, please respect them and treat them with the consideration they deserve.  Thank you.

Unfortunately, there aren't any public toilets on the rally site itself but there is a block on the seafront, just the other side of the white footbridge.
